The popular Costa Blanca has always been a firm favourite among golfers, especially as much of the very best golf in Spain can be found on the Golf Courses in Alicante which stretches most of the beautiful Costa Blanca. Las Colinas Golf & Country Club – Par 71

Las Colinas Golf & Country Club lies a few kilometres inland and borders the Orihuela Costa. The club was the recent winner of Spain’s Best Golf Course in the World Golf Awards, as well as Spain’s Leading Villa Resort in the World Travel Awards. The course is of competition standard yet also offers players of all levels an enjoyable game with its undulating hills and gentle valleys. The 18 hole course is par 71 and the club offers all amenities including a putting green, driving range and even a golf academy.

Villamartin Golf Club – Par 72

Villamartin Golf Club is less than a 10 minute drive from Las Colinas and had the honour of hosting the 1994 Mediterranean Open, which was won by Jose Maria Olazabal after an exciting play-off with Paul McGinley. Conveniently located next door to the super Villamartin Plaza, Villamartin golf  course is a par 72 and unlike many other courses in this part of Spain, none of the holes are equal. Some of the challenges include the many old olive and pine trees, steep ravines and blind bunkers, yet players are compensated with beautiful view over the Mediterranean Sea. The recently renovated club house offers all the usual amenities and a fantastic new restaurant with views over the 18th hole.

Real Club de Golf Campoamor – Par 72

Also just a few kilometres from Las Colinas is the Real Club de Golf Campoamor. Offering views of the coast all the way from the town of Torrevieja to the Mar Menor resort, this is a very pleasant course to play. Designed over 2 connecting valleys, the course is par 72 and has wide fairways surrounded by pine forest and orange trees. Facilities include clubs, trolley and buggy hire as well as golf lessons and a friendly social club. There are talks of building a new club house, restaurant, sports centre and swimming pool.

Las Ramblas Club de Golf – Par 72

Within walking distance from Campoamor is Las Ramblas Club de Golf. The par 72 course has hilly terrain and is extremely varied with fast greens and water hazards, so players can expect to make use of all their clubs. The steep slopes and dense vegetation present quite a challenge but the leafy shade is a welcome relief during the summer months, as are the lovely sea views. The choice of practice areas include chipping, pitching and putting greens as well as a practice bunker and driving range. Clubs and buggies are available for rent and the club house offers a bar and changing rooms.

La Marquesa Golf & Country Club – Par 72

Further afield, near the village of Rojales is La Marquesa Golf & Country Club with a par 72 course over gentle hills, with lakes, protected bunkers and blind holes to test players skills. In the pretty club house players can enjoy the cafe, bar and restaurant as well as facilities such as changing rooms, practice areas, repair shop, pro shop and buggy hire.
