Situated in the popular area of Villamartin on the Orihuela Costa is the fantastic Villamartin Plaza. The plaza is ideally located directly opposite the internationally renowned Villamartin Golf Club less than a 10 minute drive from the beaches of the Orihuela Costa and just 5 minutes from the impressive La Zenia Boulevard shopping centre. Built around a central courtyard that provides seating for the surrounding bars and restaurants, among expertly landscaped gardens boasting palm trees, rockeries and fountains, the plaza is a delight to the eye. The architecture is typically Spanish with terracotta and wonderfully detailed ceramic tiles, wrought iron lamps and railings and arched balconies fronting the residential apartments above.

We start our journey through Villamartin Plaza at street level where there are car parking spaces on either side of the main entrance. Opposite the entrance is a taxi rank, further parking and a well stocked Chino shop selling everything but the kitchen sink !! There is a bank, estate agent, chiropractor, Chadwick’s Bar with large outdoor terraces and the extremely popular Nan King Chinese restaurant. The main entrance has stairs leading to the upper levels and further stairs and 3 wheelchair access ramps leading to the lower courtyard area. At the front and sides of the plaza, before entering the courtyard, there is a Gamma supermarket, 2 estate agents, several hairdressers, medical clinic, Luz Hogar lighting shop, a further bank and the late night Passion discotheque.

Upon entering the lower courtyard visitors are greeted by the Copper Kettle Indian restaurant serving popular favourites such as Korma, Madras, spicy Vindaloo as well as chef’s specials and takeaway wraps and kebabs. Then there are 2 fairly new additions to the plaza, Hen’s Teeth bar & restaurant and the ever so friendly Ale House. Opposite the Ale House is Quesada Fish & Chips which is always busy and serves traditional British fare including chunky home made chips and mushy peas. They have an unbeatable lunch menu offering a choice of dishes for 2 people at just 6€ or 3.50€ per person. The courtyard area has several more bar and restaurant choices as well as the Villamartin Post Room, run by helpful and friendly staff and offering all sorts of postal services, phone top-up, passport renewal, photocopying, printing and internet. In the centre of the courtyard is an entertainment podium where visitors can enjoy live music whilst wining & dining. Next to Quesada Fish & Chips is a large children’s play area where during the summer months there are arcade games, pool tables and trampolines.
