Torrevieja is Officially the Best

It has been announced this week that the Torrevieja Health Department (Salud 22) is officially the best in the whole of the Valencian Community. According to the report, the department achieved, and in most cases surpassed, all of its 2009 objectives. The 1,250 health professionals who work within the department looked after 172,891 patients and it was the top department out of all 23 health departments in the region.
The general manager of Torrevieja Hospital said; “We are satisfied with the results of this report. We have reduced the average stay at the hospital to just four days, which no other hospital in Valencia has achieved.” He added: “This is especially significant as the Health Department 22 area also has the oldest population in the community, with 24% over 65; the average in other areas is only 17%. We also have a vast variety of nationalities amongst our patients, whom we accommodate to the very best of our ability.” He concluded: “I am also aware that the excellent technology we have in this hospital and within the health department area in general has allowed us to achieve and surpass the objectives and targets that were set for us last year.”
