Inaguration of the Corvera – Murcia International Airport
January 31, 2019Last Tuesday, January 15, in the community of Murcia, took place the inauguration of the Corvera International Airport. The ceremony was attended by King Felipe VI, president of the community, government delegate and other competent authorities. The new airport will offer 500 new direct employments in the first year and will invest 500 mln. euros in the 25 years of concession.
The operation capacity of the aerodrome is up to 16 flights per hour and it has 16 parking spaces, of which 12 will be destined for commercial flights. In its first week of work duties, was recorded the same activity as that of San Javier. Currently receives flights from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Belgium. It has also confirmed seven routes in the summer of which four are to Norway. It is expected that during the Fitur (International Tourism Trade Fair), will be closed new agreements and also it will be promoted in international fairs as in London, Berlin and Moscow.
This new terminal will open the doors to the arrival of more tourists and will create a second way of connection for those who have destination to the South of Alicante. It should be reminded that until now, the passengers had the option of arriving at the San Javier-Murcia Airport, but the latter has become nonoperational last Monday, January 14, to open the way for the new one in Corvera, with wider facilities and better services.
